Mitochondria Gallery is pleased to present our summer group exhibition “When the Sun Stands Still” featuring eleven visual artists from Western to Eastern Africa. The exhibition title is an ode to the longest day of the year, which occurs on the summer solstice. It is also a metaphoric representation of the moments in time that the exhibiting artists have captured in the works presented. Employing styles in the form of realism with elements of abstraction and surrealism throughout their works, these artists document individuality and shared experiences within their locality, while honing their artistic vernacular and process.
“When the Sun Stands Still,” features new works from Odeyemi Oluwaseun, Nedia Were, Izere Antoine, Dusabe King, Adaeze Adinnu, Ismael Kwizera, Roberto Pare, Daniel Adenitan, Manzi Leon, Kingsley Tamfou, and Kansiime Brian Lister.
