About the Artist : Ibim Cookey

Ibim Cookey (B. 1999) is a Multi award winning Contemporary Nigerian Artist from Opobo town, Rivers State, Nigeria. He is a graduate of Architecture From the University of Nigeria, Enugu. He is an Art Ambassador for the Rivers state Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Cookey works primarily with graphite, charcoal and acrylic paint in the genre of portraiture, where he creates photorealistic representation of his subjects. He has participated in over 15 exhibitions over the past 6 years where his works have been shown in Paris, London, Rio, Johanesburg, Naimey, Lagos, and Port Harcourt.

Cookey explores portraits of Africans in a wide range of everyday emotions as he strives to capture the underlying of the social structure within his habit.
